Letter from our CEO

April 2016: Rocket at 26

Rocket turns 26 years old this month. Wow. That is quite a milestone. I know what you are probably thinking: Is the Rocket of today what you envisioned when you started the company 26 years ago?

This is the #1 question people ask me when I tell them the story of Rocket. And the honest answer is, when Rocket launched back in 1990 we weren’t thinking about what we were going to be in 26 years. We knew we wanted to build something that was long-lasting and something that was going to make a difference. And we knew we wanted to create a company that valued software engineers and software engineering. And we wanted to build software that solved really hard technical problems for our customers. And we would listen to our customers and build what they asked us to build. And we would be flexible and accommodating. And we would treat people well.

Looking back, 26 years ago, we knew that it was about people and not just the ones and zeroes. So here we are in 2016. And it is because of you. Each customer. Each partner. Each Rocketeer. Each vendor and supplier and advisor and lender and investor.

This is the #2 question I am often asked: How do you stay relevant in the ever-changing technology world?

I have always said that Rocket needs to do two things well: Provide technology and solutions that businesses (and governments) run on today, and innovate for what is needed for tomorrow. It isn’t easy to do both well. But to stay true to our founding vision – to create a company that will be long-lasting and that will make a difference – we need to provide technology for today and innovate for tomorrow. We are lucky to have such a strong and talented group of Rocketeers who are committed to this vision. And we are lucky to have built a community of customers and partners who share our same values.

Thank you to every one of you who has helped make Rocket who we are today!  We are excited to launch ourselves into year 27 and continue to deliver software that matters to you.
