What is your role at Rocket Software, and what does a typical day look like?

My job is to provide opportunities for Rocketeers to expand their skills through professional development. I do this by helping Rocket Software create various programs and offerings for employee engagement and learning. I spend many of my days working to enable different workplace learning experiences and processes across different teams at Rocket Software. My goal is to remove any friction that might exist within the organization with the help of training and knowledge-sharing.

Every day is different for me, and that’s why I love my job.

What interested you in Rocket Software?

Before I worked at Rocket Software, I was a sales trainer focused on instructional design for several types of software. One of the things that interested me in working at Rocket Software was the opportunity to bring my own flavor, experience, and passion for learning to a new role at a company that would value my unique insight and background.

How would you describe the team and work environment within your department/Rocket Software?

One word that comes to mind is warmth. The environment I work in is very connected to my favorite value: Humanity. Everyone wants to support each other whenever possible.

What projects/aspects of your job bring you the most excitement?

What keeps me engaged is enabling Rocketeers to have those “light bulb” moments that help them in their careers. I’m always so excited to see other Rocketeers develop new skills and discover new ways to apply their knowledge. These experiences get me revved up—even more revved up than my morning cup of coffee!

What is one of your proudest moments during your time at Rocket Software?

I spent my first year at Rocket Software with the sales enablement group, collaborating with different teams to help get new sales initiatives off the ground. I was proud to start these new projects and see people succeed in person at our sales kickoff. I fostered a personal connection with everyone I was working with, and I still feel fortunate that I met some of my fellow Rocketeers from around the country in person at these sales events. I loved watching them accomplish their goals.

Do you think Rocket Software’s core values of Empathy, Humanity, Trust, and Love are unique from other companies? And how do you live by these in your day-to-day role?

Rocket Software’s core values are so ingrained within the company's fabric that they create an asset unique to the company. I don’t think any other company has this. From the partners we work with and the customers we build relationships with to the Rocketeers we hire—because we have woven our core values so directly into the company—no relationship is transactional. These pillars drive Rocketeers to feel more empathetic, honest, and open with their colleagues, and the values go all the way throughout the company to our executives.

When a Rocketeer asks, “Hi, how are you?” they genuinely want to know how you are; they’re not just being polite. Everyone has a vested interest in one another, and I also try to carry that mentality outside of my work. We can lift each other up by offering a hand and approaching everything we do with Empathy, Humanity, Trust, and Love.

Rocket Software inspires an environment where diversity is celebrated and respected, people are valued for their unique contributions, and where each Rocketeer feels a sense of belonging. The Rocket Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (RIDE) Program helps foster these beliefs. Tell us why you think DEI in the workplace is so important today. If you’ve participated in any RIDE initiatives previously, please share!

Bringing in people with different experiences, perspectives, and ideas within a company is essential. Change cannot happen when everyone has the same experiences and knows the same things. There’s so much value to bringing others with diverse points of view and backgrounds into an organization to build community and inspire others.

I’m part of the Talent Pilar at Rocket Software, and this is something that I want to do—foster a growth mindset to break people out of their normal flow and get everyone thinking differently. Everyone’s ideas deserve to be heard, and when we prioritize DEI initiatives, we can amplify everyone’s voice so we all can grow together.
