Rocket Software Opens Austin Office

Austin — May 31, 2016—Rocket Software, Inc. (www.rocketsoftware.com) today announced the opening of its first office in Austin at The Domain, 11501 Alterra Parkway, directly across the street from IBM Austin and in the same building as Amazon. The lease was brokered by local management company Endeavor. The creation of an office in Austin is part of a global expansion by Massachusetts-based Rocket Software, and follows the recent opening of new facilities in Japan and China. Rocket CTO Bryan Smith, who is based in Austin, is managing the new office.

Rocket currently has 35 employees in the Austin office and is hiring for a number of new positions, including technical writers, technical support professionals, and software developers and testers specializing in database tooling, machine learning, and Apache Spark. In addition, nine interns are joining the Rocket Software team for the summer, including six recruited from UT Austin.

“We’ve had employees in Austin for over a decade, but we have all worked remotely,” says Smith. “I am excited that our team can now sit together in the same physical space because collaborating in person supports innovation in ways that email and videoconferencing just can’t. We are also looking to fill a number of positions this year, and this office will help us attract top talent in a very competitive market.”

Designed to encourage maximum collaboration as well as provide quiet spaces for individual thinking and problem solving, the new Class-A construction includes a two-sided “Idea Wall,” several comfortable seating areas, a full service kitchen, a game room, and a guest refreshment area.
