Lab Logistics Group (LLG), a cooperative of 36 laboratory dealers, faced immense paperwork from dealing with over 500 suppliers. Manual data entry into their AS/400-based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system was slow and error-prone. Here’s how Rocket® Verastream® modernized their integration and automated key processes.

Challenge

They needed to streamline data and eliminate time-consuming, error-prone paperwork. Their text-based interface required manual entry for 3,500 monthly invoices and prevented remote work - a critical problem highlighted by the pandemic.

Solution

LLG used Rocket® Verastream® Host Integrator to automate ERP workflows. By modeling their invoicing system, they built web services automation to process invoices automatically, flagging only exceptions for manual review.

Results

The integration eliminated paperwork, accelerated invoice processing, and enabled remote ERP access. LLG now aims to automate 40% of invoices, boosting efficiency, speed, and process transparency for ISO auditing.

Lab Logistics Group (LLG) is a cooperative of 36 privately owned laboratory dealers across Europe, Asia, and Australia. It acts as a vital link between distributors and manufacturers, offering a wide range of laboratory consumables and devices.

Challenge

LLG needed to modernize their AS/400-based ERP system to eliminate paperwork, minimize data entry, and streamline processes for over 500 suppliers. 

LLG faced major challenges in the laboratory trade, where a fast, reliable supply is essential. With hundreds of suppliers, three employees manually processed 3,500 error-prone invoices monthly using a text-based ERP. This system also lacked remote work capabilities, a shortcoming that became critical during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Solution

Rocket Verastream automated LLG’s workflows, enabling the company to process invoices automatically and gain a clear, real-time view of its systems.

LLG adopted Rocket Verastream Host Integrator, an enterprise integration platform that allowed them to automate and improve ERP workflows by translating them into web services. A successful proof-of-concept demonstrated Verastream's capabilities and rapid implementation speed.

Results

LLG can now scale quickly with streamlined processes and greater transparency that have proved useful for ISO audits.

With invoice automation in place, LLG is exploring additional opportunities for integration. Plans include using Verastream to integrate with a .NET app on barcode readers to scan incoming goods directly into the ERP, removing another manual task. LLG also aims to automate purchasing by using Verastream to manage stock taking, auto-generate reports, and create purchase orders based on inventory parameters.
