Rocket MV Basic For Visual Studio Code V1.7.0 Now Available

We’re pleased to announce the availability of Rocket® MV BASIC for Visual Studio Code (VS Code) v1.7.0, which will let you preview debugging capabilities* for UniData and UniVerse!

Rocket MV BASIC for VS Code (MVVS) offers features to help your developers modernize, simplify, and work more productively in one of the most popular development environments, Microsoft Visual Studio Code.

By detecting and analyzing errors in your BASIC code, the Debugging feature makes it easy for you and your team to debug and fix BASIC programs. The 1.7.0 Debugging feature is considered an MVP (Minimal Viable Product) and we will continue to enhance and refine it over a series of releases.

  • Supported MVP Debugging Operations when the extension is connected to a UniData or UniVerse server:
    • Break Point
    • Continue
    • Step-In, Out, Over
    • Stop
      • *Debugging MVP Limitations:
        • Only supported on UniData 8.2.4, UniVerse 11.3.4 and 12.1.1
        • Step-in may terminate debugging session
        • Sometimes unable to step-out at the end of CALL subroutine
  • New Features:
    • Debugging support for UniVerse with no requirement that you install additional binaries
  • Enhancements:
    • File parsing performance improvements
    • UniVerse debugging stability improvements
  • 29 bug fixes for compile and debugging issues
