A Better Approach to Modernization: Rocket Software Experts Take Center Stage at Gartner Conference

As organizations worldwide bring value and innovation to their customers, infrastructure continues to play a vital role in businesses’ ability to enhance product capabilities and customer experience. That is why the theme of this year’s Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference, held December 6 – 8, 2022, was “Empowering the Anywhere Business.”
Fellow Rocket Software experts Kyle McNabb, Vice President, Solution & Partner Marketing; Jeff Cherrington, Vice President, Product Management, Infrastructure Modernization Unit; Tim Willging, Rocket Fellow, Infrastructure Modernization and I attended the event in Las Vegas, NV and took the stage to lead an open discussion on mainframe modernization.
The discussion, titled “A Better Approach to Modernization. Without Disruption,” focused on the criticality and achievability of mainframe modernization. We explained how both research and Rocket Software’s work with Fortune 1000 companies prove that the security, reliability and resilience of the mainframe continues to be essential to mission-critical businesses worldwide.
Although historical mainframe modernization efforts – like simply ripping and replacing – have proven to be too costly, risky and disruptive to business performance, our team introduced several Rocket Software tools and practices that have helped our clients simplify their modernization efforts and adoption of a hybrid cloud infrastructure. My team and I also shared tips and insights into how a strategic approach to modernizing in place can eliminate business disruptions, cut costs, mitigate risks and allow an organization to implement modern practices like DevOps and innovative open-source technology.
Overall, conference attendees were intrigued by the sessions over the three-day event. Our team was exhilarated to share Rocket Software’s mainframe expertise and modernization insights with some of the most innovative and influential minds in the IT and business world, and we left the conference inspired and excited to continue our work alongside fellow Rocketeers worldwide to break down the barriers of mainframe modernization and empower today’s anywhere businesses.
