Rocket Software Unveils Aldon's Powerful New Web Portal with Mobile Support for Simplified Release Management and Deployment

20 September, 2011

Newton, MA—September-21-2011—Rocket Software today introduced the newest addition to the Aldon Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solution offering—Aldon Web Portal Plus—a full-featured, easy to navigate web-based portal designed to give IT shops greater access to, and control over, the release management and deployment process.

With its feature-packed engine and Web 2.0 based design, Aldon Web Portal Plus allows users to easily check release status, as well as identify and resolve deployment problems quickly, often with just a click of an icon. It is also delivered with powerful mobile support, so users have the ability to track, manage, and adjust any part of the release processes on an anytime/anywhere basis from most smart phones and tablets.

"After seeing Aldon's Web Portal in action, I was truly impressed with the new level of interaction that Aldon can bring to our application management and deployments," said Joe Zumbo, Systems Administrator at CHS, long-time Aldon customer. "Having such a clean view and on-the-fly access to address issues immediately could make the difference between a very long week and a really great day."

Working in conjunction with Aldon Lifecycle Manager (IBM i Edition), the web portal can be accessed through any Internet-enabled computer and performs specific functions such as deployment set status checking, deployment target status checking, and point-and-click package rollback and recovery. Users can also configure email notifications with embedded links to Web Portal Plus that will ensure they can immediately respond to changes in release and deployment status. By adding the mobile element, Aldon aims to not just simplify the release management process but to make it easier on the IT staff, who might be checking on deployments well beyond normal business hours.

"We've been in this IBM i business for a long time and our customers tell us that release management and deployment is often the most vulnerable part of the application lifecycle," said Daniel Magid, Business Area Executive, Rocket Aldon. "Our goal with Aldon Web Portal Plus is to make that process pain-free and turn-key—whether you are deploying to 10 targets or 10,000 targets; whether you are on the road, on your couch or in a restaurant."

Magid adds, "We are committed to providing our customers the most up-to-date and easiest to use interface to change management functions available."
