Moving beyond their character-based system, they sought a flexible, Windows-based platform with a graphical interface, multiple deployment options, and seamless relational database integration to reach more courts.

Jury Systems used Visual COBOL to modernize their core application for the Y2K deadline, adding a GUI and relational database integration. This foundation later enabled them to create a web-based version using the same development environment, avoiding a major rewrite, and adding features like image processing and online juror access.

Results

The new web version introduced an intuitive user experience, boosted productivity, and paved the way for a fully cloud-hosted delivery model.

The web-based version offered a seamless, more productive user experience with minimal training. It also enabled an AWS® cloud hosting model, allowing Jury Systems to host the solution. By leveraging COBOL, they quickly adapted to new requirements, simplified maintenance and delivered the latest features to clients.
