SSL/TLS secures connections to the data server, in addition to securing data in transit from snooping or eavesdropping.
Automatic data encryption makes it easy to adhere to the highest security standards, protecting data at rest on the disk. Only trusted users with the encryption key can view data, and stolen data is rendered useless without the encryption key. Access is granted at the user or group level via role-based security, reducing the time required for DBA maintenance. The result is lower operating cost to run the data server.
Auditing capabilities within UniVerse provide traceability and proof of actions, assisting with compliance documentation for regulations such as HIPAA/HITECH and Sarbanes-Oxley. Audit logs cannot be changed once written, providing complete audit trails to external auditors. Auditing policies can be modified “on the fly” (by authorized personnel only) without restarting the database. You can trap and trace attacks or data misuse originating internally or externally to your organization when they occur.
Audit Logging Change Data Capture (CDC) captures changes at the individual field level (instead of at the record level), resulting in improved performance while also providing specifics of what data was changed by who (and when). CDC also helps with compliance reporting since it captures exactly what was changed, which many mandates require.
