Challenge

The organization's manual backup process and existing terminal emulation system created inefficiencies, increased IT costs, and caused operational delays.

With over 3.5 million members depending on their services, maintaining operational efficiency was critical for the provider, but manual system backups were time-consuming, error-prone, and required excessive IT involvement to manage data volumes, often resulting in missing backups and further inefficiencies. Additionally, their terminal emulator failed to meet modern demands, lacking robust support for Telnet, virtual terminal (VT) capabilities for Linux® and AIX connections, and seamless FTP functionality, while being costly to maintain.

Automated backups and cost-efficient terminal emulation using Rocket solutions improved efficiency and reduced IT staff workload.

Rocket OpenTech products, such as Rocket® DASD Backup Supervisor and Tape/Copy, automated backups and data integration, reduced errors, and provided better tracking and reporting. To resolve terminal emulation issues, the provider used Rocket Terminal Emulator, which simplified system access, supported Telnet, VT, and FTP, and reduced costs through easy setup and management.
