Hunter Holmes

February 6, 2024

The Rocket jBASE solution is an object-oriented integrated database management system and application development environment designed for transactional and analytical database applications. It combines scalable, flexible, seamless interoperability with connectivity, providing our customers with low overhead for easier system management and administration.

“We’re encouraging our customers to upgrade to jBASE 6.1.1 so they can benefit from new security compliance, certification on RHL 9, a free C++ compiler option for AIX users, Open SSL 3.0 support, and more including 22+ bug fixes,” says Hunter Holmes, Rocket Software Associate Product Manager.

Increased security – Polaris compliance

Polaris, one of Rocket Software’s robust 3rd party security scan suites, sets a standard for all future jBASE releases. jBASE 6.1.1 provides improved data security and reliance and includes over 300 mitigated risks in accordance with the Polaris assessment metrics.

Expanded availability

In addition to being available on various versions of Microsoft Windows and AIX flavors, we’ve also certified jBASE 6.1.1 on Red Hat Linux 9 with support for Open SSL 3.0

For AIX, due to external licensing changes, jBASE 6.1.1 supports Clang, a free version of the C++ compiler.

Recommendation

Developing secure, high-quality software is a top priority at Rocket. To ensure we meet top standards in these categories, we adhere to standards set by some of the leading software scans such as Synopsys Black Duck, Polaris, and VeraCode with each release. Rocket acquired the Zumasys product portfolio on Oct 14, 2021. Starting with the jBASE 5.8.6 release, we’ve integrated these scans into the release process. Zumasys did not conform to the same security and quality practices hence any release prior to 5.8.6 does not align with Rocket's standards. We highly recommend upgrading to the latest version of jBASE at your earliest convenience to ensure your organization has the most secure software.
