Delivers Real-time Data API to Mobile/Cloud Developers using IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition

Waltham, MA, April 5, 2017 -- Rocket Software today introduced a new way for businesses to unleash the value of mainframe data in the API economy, giving them an efficient, scalable way to get new digital services to market faster and compete more effectively. Working in combination with IBM® z/OS® Connect Enterprise Edition (EE), Rocket Data Virtualization (RDV) gives mobile and cloud application developers the ability to integrate z/OS data into their applications without the need for any mainframe expertise or changes to mainframe code.

“Since we introduced z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition in 2016, we have seen a phenomenal interest from clients to have a standardized and centralized way of providing API access to mainframe applications and data,” said David Jeffries, Director of CICS Products and z/OS Connect, IBM. “We're excited to work with Rocket Software to provide customers with another option that offers the same consistent and standard-based access to additional data sources such as VSAM, Adabas, and others through the provision of a z/OS Connect EE Service Provider to Rocket Data Virtualization.”

The key benefit of Rocket Data Virtualization as a z/OS Connect Service Provider is that developers with no mainframe background can program these powerful machines with no ramp-up time and easily integrate mainframes into new digital technologies like cloud and mobile apps. This not only speeds development but also dramatically increases the ability to use APIs to drive innovation, integrate more easily internally and with partners, and deliver enhanced online user experiences that expand revenue channel opportunities and drive profitability.

“APIs are essential to unlocking the power of the mainframe to a new generation of developers, making simpler to interact with core systems that continue to underpin large organizations,” says Bryan Smith, VP Research & Development, and CTO at Rocket Software. “IT modernization continues to be a major opportunity for many financial services organizations facing challenges from non-traditional financial start-ups. APIs can be instrumental in accelerating systems integration and enabling the faster delivery of new digital customer experiences.”
