What was announced on December 2, 2009?

Today Microsoft announced the divestiture of Folio and NXT assets to Rocket Software. And Rocket Software announced the launch of Folio and NXT as the newest products in our portfolio.

It has been decided to divest these assets to Rocket Software to provide ongoing support and services to partners and customers who are using these products.

Tell us more about Rocket Software. Why did Microsoft choose Rocket to acquire Folio and NXT?

Rocket Software is a global software company with 750+ employees that is headquartered in Newton, MA with R&D labs and sales offices around the globe. Rocket has a long history of acquiring strong product lines and providing world-class R&D and Technical Support for the benefit of new and existing customers and partners. Rocket is well positioned to work with customers, partners and their Folio and NXT implementations.

What does this mean for the customers and partners of Folio/NXT?

After the close of the acquisition, Rocket will be providing support and maintenance to customers and partners who are using the Folio and NXT Products.

Rocket also will be the recipient for ongoing royalty payments stemming from publisher and other agreements.

All contracts will be transferred and assigned over to Rocket, and Rocket will take on all of the rights and obligations of the assigned contracts therein. After the close of the acquisition, FAST and Microsoft will no longer provide support and/or maintenance for these products.

Customers’ and partners’ relationship with FAST and Microsoft for customer support, consulting, and account management for all other FAST and Microsoft products is not impacted by this divestiture.
