U2100: Java Application Development Using UniObjects

Purpose
This hands-on course provides an introduction to writing Java Applications using UniObjects to access UniData and UniVerse databases. Explore how to use UniObjects for Java in both Client/Server and Web applications. Take advantage of the power and openness of Java and the flexibility of the multi-value database. Using UniObjects, you can open files, read and write records, execute selects and call subroutines. Put a Java GUI or Java Web front-end on your existing business logic!
Audience
Experienced developers who wish to write Java applications to access UniVerse or UniData.
Prerequisites
You should have some experience with Java (at least a one-week introductory course) and experience with UniData or UniVerse.
Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Connect to U2 database accounts from Java using UniObjects for Java
- Read from and write to U2 files
- Manipulate records and multivalue fields using Java
- Read a dictionary file from Java
- Issue U2 commands via Java
- Execute U2 subroutines within Java
- Use Select Lists in your Java code
- Set up the proxy server that comes with UniObjects for Java and understand its security role
