wIntegrate Version 6.3
wIntegrate® 6.3 delivers a new tool for enhancing your application, and several end-user enhancements including new icons. wIntegrate integrates your applications with popular desktop tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel and revitalizes your user interface, providing both a rich client and thin clients which can be embedded in a Web browser.
For the End-User
This version contains many small enhancements to improve the user experience. Perhaps the most obvious are the new icons. We have improved performance, enhanced reliability, and increased compatibility for deployment on multi-byte systems. If you want to secure your communications with SSH, you’ll find some fine-tuning options which broaden the reach of this increasingly popular protocol.
Enhancing Your Application
The newly updated wIntegrate Editor not only lets you draw dialog boxes, but also generates the U2 Basic code to drive them. wIntegrate is architected to allow the host to control the PC. However many developers find it challenging to write Basic programs which handle Windows events. The new Editor does it all for you! You can associate custom host subroutines with fields/events in the dialog, for example to validate input. If you customize the generated code, your changes are preserved when you reopen the dialog for maintenance.
A completed project is supplied for a dialog which maintains a customer record. We show you the steps involved in creating this – painting the dialog, adding the subroutines to validate fields and read/write the record, and uploading it to the host.
All dialogs created by wIntegrate are compatible with thin client deployment using the Windows or Java clients.
Other Features
wIntegrate 6.3 runs on Windows XP thru Windows 7. The scripting language is constantly being upgraded to help developers seeking to give their users the best possible experience in a constantly changing landscape. Other improvements include changes to the built-in grid, and an easily customized utility which prints the screen with custom text.
