Data Protection Expert 1.4 is now available for purchase. This release includes major enhancements in reporting for Netbackup, Networker, and TSM backup environments. Also included in this release are enhancements to the alerting, scoping and filtering capabilities and a new media manager that helps you more effectively manage all backup media across your enterprise regardless of backup application or server.
Tape Vault Expert (TVE)
From a single window within the DPE Web interface, you can easily manage all the tapes within your backup environment across multiple backup servers, even if they belong to different backup applications. TVE gives you the ability to easily complete tasks such as identifying and selecting tapes ready to go offsite or ready for return. Media management tasks like this, normally cumbersome and labor intensive, become easy to accomplish with TVE. In addition, we’ve expanded media reporting to include four new reports to provide you with the data you need to better manage your environment.
Occupancy reporting
The new Occupancy report shows the storage occupancy for your TSM, Netbackup, and Networker environments on a per client basis. Understanding the amount of disk and tapes that are being utilized by your users allows you to see abusers and better plan for and understand resource consumption.
Enhanced Client reporting
This release includes several enhancements that are specific to TSM, Networker, and Netbackup environments to improve how Data Protection Expert reports on various aspects of client backup such as data transfer by policy, schedule, backup type, media server, storage unit and library. Statistics and metrics about your backup environment like these will allow you to more effectively and efficiently manage your resources and achieve higher asset utilization.
