Overview
Data Protection Expert (DPE) software helps enterprises centrally monitor and manage their backup environments more cost-effectively and with increased service levels. To meet the needs of diverse data management sites, Data Protection Expert software provides a single, seamless view across your multi-vendor backup environments.

- Provides the ability to group backup assets into ‘scopes’ to enable customized reports and event notification. Scopes group your clients by corporate needs, regardless of the operating system, backup application, physical location, etc.
- Provides an intuitive GUI for system administrators, application administrators, department administrators, etc., to track backups while restricting their view to the servers they have responsibility for and limiting the actions they can take.
Data Protection Expert Screen Shots
The Data Protection Expert main dashboard functions as a customizable palette that you can drag and drop any report onto. Simply select one of many dashlets from the toolbar and drag it onto the dashboard. Name and save the dashboard to return to it at a later date. You can have any number of dashboards that can be organized by virtually anything (server location, operating system of servers, application, support staff, etc).

The dashboard can contain any number of dashlets. Some dashlets are graphical and others are tabular reports. Each dashlet has many configuration options. After you save the dashboard, each option selected within the dashlet is also saved.

Data Protection Expert offers many out-of-the-box reports. Like most items within Data Protection Expert, reports are configurable to fit your backup environment. For example, you can apply scopes to limit or filter the data in the report. Additionally, you can apply user filters, change the date range, and export the final report to .html, .csv, or .xml format.

The billing module in Data Protection Expert is a powerful tool for generating bills for the total data stored by your backup system as well as the daily transferred amount. You can set different prices for each tier of use (by GB or TB) and generate a bill for any group of clients in your environment, regardless of application or location.
