Key Features
Fundamentally, RocketMyWeb provides three capabilities:
- Select areas that are of interest to you on a given web page, re-arrange them, and only view this re-arranged content each time that you revisit the web site.
- Select one or more areas of a web page that you never wish to see and have them automatically removed from display each time that you revisit the web site.
- Select content from across one or more web pages and arrange them on a single 'My Page'. Whenever you display a 'My Page', your selected content is automatically drawn 'live' from each respective web site and displayed in a single 'virtual web page'.
Selecting web page content that is of interest to you
This process involves three simple steps:
- Browse to the web page of interest.
- Click on the 'Edit' button in the RocketMyWeb toolbar and position the green selector over the area of interest. Click on the button once more to add further green selectors.
- Once done, click on the 'View' button in the RocketMyWeb toolbar to view your selected content.
Selecting Content
Click on the 'Normal' button in the RocketMyWeb toolbar to view the page in its original form. Whenever you return to this web page, RocketMyWeb will re-apply whichever toolbar 'mode' you last left the page on, be it 'Normal', 'Edit' or 'View'. As such, leave the toolbar on 'View' mode at the particular web page if you only want to see your selected content whenever you visit it. Leave it on 'Normal' mode if you'd rather see the entire page when first visiting it. Once you have a page open, you can freely move between normal, edit and view modes while viewing it RocketMyWeb always remembers your page selections, regardless of toolbar mode.
Hiding page content that is of no interest to you
In some cases, it is more convenient to remove unwanted content from a web page rather than select the material that you wish to keep. Recognizing this, we've given the toolbar the ability to remove areas of a page that you no longer wish to see. Excluding content is similar to selecting content (outlined above), requiring three simple steps:
- Browse to the web page of interest.
- Click on the 'Edit' button in the RocketMyWeb toolbar. Click the Edit button once more and select 'Exclude mode' from the options. Position the red selector over the area to be excluded. Click on the Edit button once more to add further red selectors.
- Once done, click on the 'View' button in the RocketMyWeb toolbar to view your tailored web page.
Arranging disparate web content on a single 'My Page'
Page content selected with the 'green filters' can be optionally arranged on a single 'My Page', as depicted in the diagram below:
Your 'My Page' is displayed by clicking on the 'My Pages' button on the RocketMyWeb toolbar. To add content to this page, perform the following steps:
- When viewing a web page in 'View' mode, you will notice a Icon icon in the top-left corner of each of your selections. Click on this icon to add the respective content to the 'My Page'.
- Repeat the process for each of your web sites. When done, click on the 'My Page' button to display your selected content on a single, unified web page.
You can also use the 'Manage My Pages' dialog to create additional 'My Pages' and define the content that you wish to display on each of them. To do this, perform the following steps:
- Click on the arrow to the right of the 'My Pages' button on the RocketMyWeb toolbar and select 'Manage My Pages'.
- Use the left-hand side of the dialog to add, edit and delete 'My Pages'.
- Use the right-hand side of the dialog to define what will appear on the selected 'My Page' on the left.
