Rocket Software announces the latest release of iCluster – Rocket iCluster 7.1 TR2
Summary
This technical refresh adds new features such as mobile monitoring, expanded reporting capabilities and support for IBM i 7.2. Check out what’s new!
Mobile Monitoring
Rocket iCluster 7.1 TR2 introduces mobile monitoring, allowing you to use any HTML5-enabled browser on any mobile device; iPad, Android tablet or cellphone, to access iCluster. Perform simple checks and commands from the road, home, or your favorite lunch place, making managing your environment easier and more efficient. Pull out your phone to view replication statistics and perform operator functions like starting or stopping replication and performing a role switch. Common statistics normally seen on the monitor such as number of suspended or out of sync objects, status of the source scrape and target apply processes, latency, journal positions and whether a sync check is running are also available from the Mobile Monitor.
Easier Administration
The full Cluster Monitor enables administrators to be able to see monitor information for replication groups regardless of whether the current node is the primary or the backup for a group.
Administration is easier than ever. Initial synchronization can be performed on just the objects that are in replication scope by saving the objects to a save file as part of marking journal positions. Files out of sync with record-level errors can now be sync checked at the byte level and repaired by sending only mismatched records with a single command. Start up and shutdown of iCluster can now be fully automated including starting or shutting down all groups, subsystems and nodes in a single pair of commands.
Advanced Reporting
Reporting capabilities are enhanced with a brand new Report Menu. This menu includes reports from DMXTRAS and ICTOOLS such as Object Counts, Journal Analysis and Cross Logicals, as well as traditional reports such as sync checks and new reports for replication coverage, group status and configuration.
Expanded Infrastructure
The iCluster Infrastructure is enhanced by providing support for IPV6 addresses, replication of Materialized Query Tables and IBM job schedule entries. For customers with Help Systems products, these can be automatically configured to be replicated to a backup node by iCluster.
Technical Information
Rocket iCluster continues to expand its support for the latest OS releases and features and fully supports IBM i 7.2. Requirements include:
- IBM i5/OS V5R4 through i7.2i
- TCP/IP including IPV6 addresses
- 200 MB Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) for installation
- 90 MB DASD for operation
- 512 MB DASD for staging store (although typical installation size is 10 GB) Additional disk space on each node for save files and journal receivers
