MultiValue Database helps companies further improve performance and data analysis

Press Release

Waltham, MA—February 12, 2015—Rocket Software (www.rocketsoftware.com) today announced the release 8.1 of Rocket UniData, one of its core MultiValue databases. UniData’s innovative features help organizations in hundreds of industries improve their ability to manage massive amounts of data by delivering fast response times and decreasing or eliminating database management tasks that waste time and money.

Jay LaBonte, President of Paradigm Systems, Inc., is a long-time UniData user who recently began working with the latest version of the database. He says that, "I found it to be a major jump for UniData. With its new 64-bit files support, new hash type 3 and "WHOLEFILE" file hashing of dynamic files, database efficiency will be greatly improved, considering today’s big data requirements. This, combined with the other great enhancements to UniBasic, indicate to me that Rocket Software is committed to the MultiValue market."

Lindsay Rex, Technical Consultant for CACI Ltd. in the UK says, "We’re really impressed so far with the UniData 8.1 release 64-bit capability. In benchmarking it has allowed us to process large data tables significantly quicker than previous versions. This improvement will really help us and our large clients in Central Government and Care in terms of performance and data crunching."

"The key challenge faced by solutions providers is how to capitalize on their investments in MultiValue technology to enable future growth and profitability," says P. Gary Gregory, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Rocket DBMS and Application Servers. “Continued success requires agility – skillful adaption enabled by modernization of technology in which Rocket plays a progressive role. We are evolving our MultiValue databases so that our customers can rapidly and easily re-deploy their business rules and logic into modern application architectures.

Vinnie Smith, Rocket Software Managing Director of Research and Development for Rocket U2 Lab adds that, "The world faces more opportunities with IoT (Internet of Things), UniData 8.1 is ready and capable with support for IPv6. In addition, the new account based licensing enables customers to segment different accounts based on users and license usage to maximize business continuity in today’s SaaS based environments."

Rocket UniData 8.1 features a number of new enhancements, including 64-bit file support and architecture, support for IPv6, account based licensing, and replication performance monitor, as well as improvements to the install process and new security enhancements.
