Rocket Software purchases StorageNetworks' STORos StorageManager product line to extend its Storage Management offering to the OEM Market

Newton, Massachusetts -- December 1, 2003 -- Rocket Software, Inc. today announced that it has purchased the software technology assets of StorageNetworks, Inc., the STORos StorageManager suite of products. STORos� is a proven storage management solution previously used by StorageNetworks to manage 1.5 petabytes of data in 42 data centers around the world. StorageNetworks has dissolved and is in the process of liquidating.

Rocket will use the STORos product line to bolster its already significant offerings in the storage management and data center management markets. Rocket's storage management products enable data center managers to efficiently manage large amounts of data in multi-vendor, multi-site storage environments. Rocket will integrate the STORos product functionality with its existing data center and storage management products in order to provide a more comprehensive suite of storage management products that:

 

• Automates the monitoring of storage resources across the enterprise and extends into areas such as trend analysis and root-cause analysis

   

• Provides extensive filtering capabilities and administrative groupings that can help storage administrators and operators to proactively focus on storage issues before they become storage problems

   

• Delivers autonomic management of storage resources that can generate automatic corrective actions

   

• Generates a graphical visualization of storage assets and current status with extensive drill-down capability to the actual metrics of a storage object

   

• Monitor, manage, backup and restore direct and network attached storage in a multi-vendor environment

   

• Rapidly identify underutilized storage resources across an enterprise and improve overall storage utilization

   

• Automates best-practices in a heterogeneous storage environment

   

• Provides historical view of backup and recovery activities
