Newton, Mass. — June 23, 2008 — Rocket Software (www.rocketsoftware.com), a Boston-based software developer, today announced that it has purchased the AeroText™ suite of text-mining and content analysis applications from Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT). The acquisition was supported by Fluid Innovation (www.fluidinnovation.com), an Austin-based company that focuses on bringing to market software technologies that were originally developed by large companies for their internal use. Under terms of the purchase, support and maintenance contracts will be automatically assigned to Rocket and will run to term. Subsequent renewals will be managed by Rocket, which will also provide all technical support, training, consulting and forward product development.
The AeroText product suite provides a fast, agile information extraction system for developing knowledge-based content analysis applications. The technology excels at developing a core understanding of content contained within unstructured text, such as emails and documents, as well as an ability to automatically reconcile information cited across multiple documents. Such a capability makes it suited for a variety of applications, from counter-terrorism and law enforcement to business intelligence and enterprise content management.
AeroText was originally developed by Lockheed Martin and is often integrated into other solutions. AeroText solutions provide both information extraction and link analysis capabilities by converting unstructured information into structured information.
According to Rocket CEO Andy Youniss, “This is a great addition to our roster of products. Our primary focus is on serving the needs of the AeroText customers and the terrific relationship we have with Lockheed Martin. After we release AeroText V6, we expect to explore potential integration with our other enterprise software offerings. Stay tuned.”
