Current Release
Latest Release: Version 7 Release 1
The latest release of Model 204 is V7R1.0 for z/OS and z/VM operating systems. This new release reinforces the four main pillars that together reflect the major strengths of Model 204:Scalability
V7R1 will give MP/204 customers the immediate benefit of scaling up to 850 percent CPU utilization. You will be able to apply the power of nearly 8,000 MIPS to a single Model 204 region from an appropriately configured IBM System z processor.
Your Model 204 business systems will comfortably handle the increased demand that unexpected changes in your business environment, such as mergers and acquisitions, may bring.
And with V7R1, you can expect to enjoy CPU savings, giving you valuable room for expansion of your applications without the need for expensive hardware upgrades.
Availability
V7R1 will increase your ability to run your Model 204 applications without interruption with more new features, including new file structures that will eliminate or defer situations that currently require file reorganization.
Flexibility
As always, the new release will see features that enhance User Language and make life even easier for your database administrators and application developers. For example, have you ever wanted to build a feature right into your application that communicates directly with your customers or suppliers? The new $SNDMAIL function can take care of that for you.
Extensibility
For those of you interested in extended database connectivity options, this release also brings you exciting news. Provide a new way of accessing your Model 204 data with our newest addition to the Connect suite of products, Connect for .NET. This newest driver includes a full set of common base classes to allow you to integrate Model 204 applications with the Microsoft .NET Framework environment. The V7R1 Connect Suite also includes Connect for JDBC allowing access to Model 204 from any Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) application or framework. Connect for ODBC allows access to Model 204 from any ODBC enabled application or development environment.
