Rocket.Ascent Client is the new front-end user interface to Rocket AS, providing an up-to-date look-and-feel to existing applications with little or no effort. Interactive applications that use the AS SHOWPAN functionality benefit the most from this new look. Ascent Editor

Rocket.Ascent Client is built on Eclipse, a popular Java-based development environment, which provides a modern, highly customizable Graphical User Interface which will be familiar to a wide audience.

Use Rocket.Ascent Client instead of your 3270 emulator to connect to Rocket AS and you can immediately have the look-and-feel of a Windows interface to AS and AS Applications with menu bars, edit fields, check boxes and vibrant colors. Of course, if you prefer your application to look the way it always has, you can do that too, and still make use of all the other enhanced features.

  • Rocket.Ascent Client is a PC Client application designed for use with a Rocket AS server running on an IBM System z environment.
  • Rocket.Ascent Client is available free of charge to Rocket AS customers, by downloading from the Rocket Customer Portal.
  • Rocket.Ascent Client is built on Eclipse, a popular Java-based development environment and can be installed on a suitable PC running Windows.
  • Rocket.Ascent Client requires Rocket AS V 6.3 or later due to the extra facilities that have been added to AS.
  • Rocket.Ascent Client is the first phase of the Rocket.Ascent development program, to be followed in the future by the Rocket.Ascent Server, which will provide an alternative to using an IBM System z server.
